Animating Archives: Contemporary Chlorophyll Prints
Redmond Town Center

Redmond, Washington 98052
Working with the Redmond Historical Society, Redmond Poet Laureate Shin Yu Pai curated a series of archival images, which she and photographer Megan Bent recreated as chlorophyll prints. Using leaf species harvested in and around Redmond, the two artists printed leaves with historic images using the light of the sun.
For their exhibition, the artists envision printing digital scans of the leaf prints in large format, images sizing between 16” x 16” and 20” x 20”. At these sizes, viewers will be able to see the fine details of the chlorophyll prints magnified: the veins, cracks, holes, and deterioration. The actual leaves (chlorophyll prints) will be displayed inside of 10 display boxes.
