Be sure to stop by the VALA Art Center booth at So Bazaar on Thursday, August 24th, 5pm – 10pm where Redmond’s Poet Laureate Shin Yu Pai and textile artist Maura Donegan will be working on their collaborative project. The public is invited to participate.
VALA is collaborating with Poet Laureate, Shin Yu Pai, to facilitate small embroidery of words and excerpts selected from the City of Redmond’s Cultural Inclusion Resolution and other words curated by Shin Yu Pai from various selected poems with a focus on inclusion.
Shin Yu Pai has written a poem called “Same Cloth” in honor of former Redmond Business owner, Mrs. Leona Coakley-Spring.
Textile artist Maura Donegan will embroider this poem and present the finished project at So Bazaar Wild Strings on August 24th. VALA’s Community Art Project on August 24th is free and open to the public. The community project is presented in the spirit of inclusion and supports Shin Yu’s efforts as the community’s poet laureate.
