VALA Eastside Announces Redmond Arts Festival Featured Artist
July 7 – July 9 in Redmond Town Center
Redmond, WA – June 27, 2017 – VALA Eastside announces Angela Flowers as the 2017 Redmond Arts Festival Featured Artist. Angela will lead the community in a printmaking project involving iconic Northwest imagery and hand carved potato stamps.
Each day of the festival a new work of art will be created, each focusing on a different iconic Northwest image. Festival attendees of all ages are invited to carve their own potato stamp and use it to add unique designs and marks to the project. Each hour a new color will be introduced, creating an ever-changing colorful canvas that will be completed at the end of each day.
The Featured Artist Community Art Project is a festival tradition giving attendees the opportunity to experience the process of making art alongside a working artist and their fellow community members. All ages are welcome to share in the fun. The community art project is generously sponsored by The Carter on the Park Apartments (www.liveatthecarter.com) located in Downtown Redmond. “As strong supporters of our local arts community, our newest apartment home community in Redmond, The Carter on the Park, is proud to sponsor this event for VALA Eastside and specifically the talents of Angela Flowers,” says MainStreet Property Group President Kelly Price. “A celebration of local art and culture, The Carter pays tribute to Redmond wood carver Dudley Carter – we hope community members will stop by and check out our art gallery, which is open to the public.”
